When choosing clothing it is important you feel comfortable, decide on a style for you all to wear either casual in jeans and t-shirts or more formal with shirts and jackets, if time allows we can usually incorporate change half way through your session. Try to avoid any one person wearing much brighter clothing than anyone else as this will cause them to stand out more, or wearing strong patterns which also detract from your portrait.

Babies and Young Children: Try to book your session around young children's feed and sleep times, generally evenings are not a good time for babies. When dressing young babies consider the clothing as short dresses and big nappies do not work. Try not to bribe your children with sweets or toys before their session, we are very experienced at getting children to relax and be natural in front of the camera. Definitely don't tell them to smile, because if they try too hard it looks forced, natural smiles lead to beautiful portraits.

Teenagers: Having a portrait done is about self-expression, let them choose what they want to wear, it is not about being in a cheesy school photograph, but a modern contemporary image more in keeping with current fashion and popular culture, about who they are now.

Props: Really help to personalise your portrait and add an element of fun, we do not supply toys for your children as we rather they bring something that is special and personal to them for the shoot. It also helps children to buy into what we are doing. Use your imagination and have some fun.
